Coach Donald Chumley career record 45-11 will rely on college prospects 6’0” 240lb Offensive lineman Ben McMahan, lineman Charlie Ferrell 6’3” 235, Running back Christopher Barnwell 5’11” 205, and 6’1” 240 lb defensive tackle John Burke.
The Raiders run a very efficient “triple option” running offense that has averaged 34.6 points per game. It will be a huge challenge for coach John Gamble to prepare the Indians to slow it down.

Irwin’s first region loss was handed to them by a very good Hawkinsville Red Devil Team. The teams seemed to be evenly matched.
Hawkinsville received the ball first and scored first with a 4 yard rush by Fabian Forrest who was a thorn in the Indians side all night. Forrest is a scat-back that has Barry Sanders type moves and will make a good defenseman miss. The Extra point was good and the Devils led 7-0 with 5:38 to go in the 1st period. The first play of the second quarter yielded a touchdown with a 7 yard pass from Clint Paulk to Travis Tucker. PAT was blocked Hawkinsville led 7-6. On Irwin’s next possession Kevious Robinson broke into the Devil backfield and sprinted 78 yards to give Irwin a 12-7 lead at the half. Unfortunately the Indian scoring was over for the night as Hawkinsville added 2 more scores to take down the tribe 21-0. Jake Atkinson did a good job punting averaging 38 yds per punt.
The Indians will travel to Jeffersonville this Friday night to take on the highly Ranked Twiggs County Cobras.

It has been many years since an Irwin County team has scored any where in the neighborhood of 55 points. Irwin started it’s region schedule making a statement to the region that Irwin County is a much improved football team from a year ago. The ball carriers carried the ball, the blockers blocked, the passers passed, and the receivers caught the ball. The defense was very stingy. When everyone comes together as a team everything clicks. THAT is what happened Friday night. It all worked.
The game began with Irwin kicking off to Turner. After a quick Turner fumble Irwin capped off a 40 yard drive with a 9 yard run by #21 Kevious Robinson. Daniel Rodriquez extra point was good, 7-0 Indians. After the Indians stopped the Rebel drive Kevious Robinson broke a 67yard touchdown run for Touchdown #2 on thenight. Rodriquez added the PAT to lead 14-0. The next possession allowed #9 Barnard Baker to top off a drive with an 11 yard scamper and score one of his three touchdowns in the game. On the next position Irwin Scored on a 37 yard pass play from #12 Clint Paulk to #15 Travis Tucker. The PAT was good by Rodriquez. Indians led 28-0 with 5:38 left in the first period. The Indians started the second quarter with a 37 yard touchdown pass Paulk to Robinson. Rodriquez’s PAT was good. The Tribe led 35-0. With 4:48 in the half Turner finally got on the board with a 1 yard run, to make the score 35-6 . Kevious Robinson soon took control again as he scampered 63 yards for another touchdown rush. The PAT was good by Rodriquez stretching the score to 42. With 52 seconds left in the half Turner completed a 32 yard pass and made the PAT to go into the half 42 –13. Irwin received the ball the beginning of the second half and drove the ball to the 7 where Barnard Baker took it in for his third TD of the night. Rodriquez PAT attempt was good and Indians led 49-13. The Indians began to substitute players at the end of the third and the entire 4th quarter. #14 Mike Washington intercepted a pass in the 4th Quarter and returned it 50 yards for the final Indian score of the night. The PAT was no good and the Indians led 55-13. The final score came with less than a minute left to go in the game when Turner pushed over a touchdown from one yard out. The Pat was good and te final score was 55-20.
The thing that makes a team a team is “coming together” Helping each other over come adversity. There has been a lot of support among these team members to get to this point. The offensive line Joe Ben Wright, Darius Battle, Chandler Rowe, Bradley Tucker, Terrance Woodard and Josh Johnson are doing a fantastic job in making holes for the backs. The defensive line with Eric Lawton, Terrance Woodard, Tra Lundy, Jeremy Martin. #20 Casey Busbin played special teams this week and was around the ball nearly every play he was in. Clae Wynn suffered a dislocated shoulder but was in on several big defensive plays on the night. Bradley Tucker and Luke Rainier as well as Darious Battle did a great job at linebacker.
