The Irwin County Indians record improved to 2-2 Friday night as they handily took care of the Portal Panthers 35 – 12. After stopping the first Portal drive the Indians drove the ball down and Daniel Rodriguez kicked a 27-yard field goal to put the Tribe ahead 3-0

Tribe welcomes Portal PDF Print E-mail

The Portal Panthers visit Indian Field Friday night to take on the 1-2 Indians. Coming off a heartbreaking one point loss to Berrien the Indians focus on the final none region game of the season. “a win this game, as well as the Clinch win could give us the upper hand in the tiebreaker situation if needed at the end of the season” Stated Gamble” Every win is important”

The Panthers are coming off of a 1-9 season and an 0-3 start this season so they are hungry for a victory,. Running Back Chase Sheffield and Casey Ware will lead the offense, while linebacker Jarrell Robinson will anchor the defense. Portal will be no pushover.

Kickoff this week is at 7:30. Join us at at 7 pm on radio 98.5 or streaming on IrwinCountyIndians.com. Bill Bars will start the broadcast with the Michaels Smith –Rain and Hail Pre-game show and Andy Paulk and Kelly Wynn at 7:30 with all the play-by-play action.

It was a roller coaster ending as the last seconds ticked off the clock down in Nashville last Friday night as the Irwin County Indians lost a squeaker to Berrien Co Rebels 25-26. It was the perfect night for football. The stands were packed on both sides. The standing room only crowd would not be disappointed as two evenly matched teams gave it their all and fought tooth and nail to the final play with no time left on the clock. “WOW” an Instant Classic.

Irwin takes Clinch! PDF Print E-mail

What a great night as the 2009 Indians held off a tough Clinch Co attack to outscore the Panthers 14-7. After a promising opening drive the Tribe finally had to punt, pinning Clinch deep in their own territory. After one of many fine defensive stands on the night the Panthers punt was block by a barrage of Indians. The ball finally came to rest on the 2 -yard line where Clint Paulk took it into the end zone for Irwin’s first touchdown. The extra point was not good and Irwin led 6-0.

Indians "Wall of Fame" PDF Print E-mail

The Irwin Touchdown Club And Cheerleader announces the “Indians Wall of Fame”!!

A framed display will house permanent plates that will represent Irwin County Football and Cheerleaders past and present. Touchdown Club President Lanier McCurdy said, “We feel like this is a way to recognize past and present football players and will all being the field house an the new Indians stadium”. This will be an ongoing project and each and every year new names will be added. A plate may be purchased for $100.00. For the purchase of a plate contact Jake Walters at 468-9411 or Lanier McCurdy at 468-9406. Cheerleaders can contact Jeanne Pujadas or Jessica McCurdy at ICHS.
